Schauer Group, one of Ohio’s largest independently owned insurance and risk management firms, announces two strategic hires that help position the company to sustain its record sales growth and expand its brand recognition across the region.
Rob Schiesswohl has been hired as a client executive in the company’s Cleveland-area office. In his role, he will work closely with Schauer Group’s business insurance clients to gain an understanding of how their organizations operate and to help craft customized risk management programs that meet their business needs.
Prior to joining Schauer Group, Schiesswohl worked as a public service sector underwriter for Hylant in Cleveland, handling territories in Indiana and Pennsylvania. He also worked at Cincinnati Insurance as a commercial lines underwriter.
Schiesswohl graduated from Ohio University, where he majored in marketing and business analytics and obtained his bachelor’s degree in business administration and a sales certificate from the university’s highly ranked Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre.
Alison Matas Smith joins Schauer Group as director, communications. In this newly created role, Smith will help build and advance the Schauer Group brand throughout Northeast Ohio, focusing on both marketing efforts and talent attraction and retention.
Most recently, she served as development director for Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio, leading the affiliate’s volunteer and community outreach team. Smith began her career as a reporter for The Canton Repository, where she won several statewide awards for her work. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Marietta College and a master’s degree in journalism from the Missouri School of Journalism at the University of Missouri.
