Schauer, who is based out of the firm’s Cleveland office, has been with Schauer Group since 2014 and has worked with Schauer Group’s employee benefits clients for six years. In his previous roles with the department, he has focused on building relationships with group benefits carriers and third-party administrators; developing new onboarding techniques for clients; working with clients to design and implement benefits strategies; and providing employee education about a variety of benefits and health care topics.
Schauer represents the fourth generation of Schauer Group leadership and is assuming departmental responsibilities held for decades by William T. Schauer, who now serves as vice chairman of Schauer Group and who will continue to work with the firm’s employee benefits clients.
Ultimately, Alex Schauer said, Schauer Group’s employee benefits team is committed to helping organizations create customized benefits plans that both meet employee needs and control costs.

Schauer earned his Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering from the University of Cincinnati and his Master of Business Administration from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University. He holds a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation and is working to obtain a SHRM Senior Certified Professional designation. Schauer is a graduate of the 2023 Cleveland Leadership Center Cleveland Bridge Builders program and is co-chair of the Associate Board of Shoes & Clothes for Kids.
